Restorative Yoga:

For those of you who have not been to one of my classes or retreats I just thought I would give you a little more information about the restorative practice I share

In Restorative Yoga, we carefully and comfortably cradle and support the body with the use of irresistible Yoga props, such as.. blankets, bolsters, blocks, eye pillows, calming heat packs .

Everything so the body cannot resit,

but to Rest and Restore

Great things happen when we’re parasympathetically dominance (relaxed).

Our breath is full, slow, and deep. Our sleep is sound. We’re less busy in our minds, less ‘wired’ in our nervous system.

The immune system purrs. There’s more space and calm around things.

So we can regulate and bounce back with ease after stress and illness.

We have more energy during each day and feel more present and alive, aligned.

Our relationship with ourselves, our loved ones and the world around us will flourish.

Life becomes more easeful.

This restorative 3 night and 4 day Retreat Immersion will be a quiet, slow practice of RESTING deeply, attentive BREATH WORK to assist in developing a calm state within.

So be prepared to leave behind your outer world and to look within .

To be nourished and nutured

Meditation:

Meditation is for Everyone

No matter what your age, occupation or status in life is, whether you’re a student, parent, business person or retired, everyone needs a sanctuary from the demands of modern living, stress, anxieties, loneliness, emptiness, and personal problems.

In the same way that we can all enjoy a beautiful sunset, regardless of our age, income, profession, or anything else, similarly, we can all practice and reap the fruits of meditation.

By adding meditation to your life, you can experience ever-deepening inner peace and happiness, ever-increasing insights, realization of your real self-worth, and come to appreciate the deep and valuable purpose of your existence.

Other studies have indicated meditation may reduce the levels of cortisol, a hormone that in high levels can weaken the immune system and slow down healing.

Yoga Nidra:

Yoga Nidra is the deepest of all Resting Meditations. Intertwined with sacred and ancient knowledge and western interpretation it is now known as an evidence based practice for high stress states including PTSD and other trauma conditions.

Yoga Nidra, like Restorative yoga, practiced regularly mediates stress reactivity, i.e., reduces stress hormones, improves glucose sensitivity, and improves heart rate variability. In general, Yoga Nidra quiets pain sensitivity; improves emotional regulation; relieves anxiety and fear; improves attention; and perhaps most wonderfully develops our capacity for contentment and joy.”

Sound Healing:

We will be joined by Kathryn Riding for a magical deep journey into sound healing and Mantra .

Kathryn will weave her magic as we rest deeply and journey inwards

Art Therapy:

Art Therapy guided dance / movement and art making

* A guided dance and movement session to sounds and rhythms which allow you to connect into your mind and body awareness.

* Following on with an exploration of this felt sense using art materials and large sheets of paper.

* Finishing with a sharing in circle and time for journaling or self-reflection to capture your bodies wisdom and inner knowing.

Your body has the answers and can lead you to greater flow, ease, self-expression, and calm. Freedom comes from feeling you are fully aware and making choices that bring happiness.

What we ‘think’ is not often what is best for us. Learning to trust and listen to our body, can guide us to what we need for greater health and happiness.

During the workshop, we will be exploring mindful awareness of the body. Guided gentle dance and movement for deepening mind body awareness, somatic movement explorations that support you to follow your body wisdom. Learn to listen deeply to your own body and allow its unique way of moving to unwind old patterns and find ways to experience release, relief, comfort, and joy.

All levels of ability and limitations are welcome as you will be exploring within your own abilities.

Facilitator Lana Whittington is a practicing Creative Arts Psychotherapist.

She has many years of experience in counselling practice with individuals and groups. Her background in dance and the creative arts ignited her passion for embodied healing.
