Details

CC the Cat are back on the prowl and ready to cook up a storm at one of our fave local venues the Kingscliff Beach Hotel!

Brisbane/ Gold Coast party-starters CC the Cat deliver cool, conscious reggae funk and soul music, featuring enigmatic frontwoman Claire Cottones powerful voice and anthemic songs about love, spiritual growth and freedom. The bangin 6-piece features some of the countrys best musicians, consistently proving themselves to be one of the most enduring and loved acts in the Australian roots scene. CC the Cats live show is packed with epic vocal hooks and harmonies, fat drum and bass grooves, punchy brass breakdowns, dubalicious keys, with a conscious message and a heap of fun, love and positive energy.

CC the Cat have toured Australia extensively for over 10 years, rocking festival crowds at Woodford Folk Festival, Island Vibe Festival, Nannup Festival, Byron Bay Falls Festival, Surfers Paradise Festival, Mullum Music Festival, Earth Frequency Festival, Nimbin Roots, and countless more stages across the nation. The band features Stevie Buchanan (Bullhorn) on trumpet, Ange Gadd (One Dragon Two Dragon) on trombone, Rohan Seekers (Bearfoot) on keys, CCs sister Julia Rose (Alysha Brilla) on bass, and newest member Dave Watts on drums. Between them members have played nearly every festival stage in Australia. Together, they are a musical force to be reckoned with.

This prolific songwriting dreamteam have independently produced 4 studio albums, with regular spins on Triple Js Roots & All and community radio across Australia. Most recently, the band recorded reggae-dub spiritual exploration Free Spirit in Ubud, Bali in 2016 with international producer Ben Last. This was the second album that was crowd funded by CCs devoted fan base, taking out a nomination for best song at the Gold Coast Music Awards 2017.

Songs From the Sea (2013), produced by Paulie B (George, Beautiful Girls, Bobby Alu) sat in Airits coveted Top Ten nationally for two months running, and hit #1 at Brisbanes 4ZzZ, as well as taking out Best Reggae Track North Coast Entertainment Industry Dolphin Awards 2014. 2010s dub reggae odyssey Inna Babylon Jungle was reviewed by Rave Mag to be one of the best Australian reggae albums of all time. CCs first EP Nicotine (2008) was produced by Govinda Doyle (Angus Stone) and features an unforgettable cover of Portisheads Glory Box.

The band is excited to be joined by bohemian gypsy flamenco queen Felicity Lawless for the opening set.

Free entry. All covid restrictions in place at the time of the show are to be strictly adhered to.
