Details

Diabetes in Schools is an information and training program designed to support families and schools to help students with type 1 diabetes.

This one-day seminar aims to help designated staff who supervise or teach a student with type 1 diabetes gain the knowledge and confidence necessary to support students at school.

The seminar is presented in a group environment by a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and participants will have the opportunity to take part in activities and have their questions and concerns addressed.

Topics during the day include:

  • Diabetes 101
  • Food and type 1 diabetes
  • Monitoring glucose levels
  • Insulin
  • Hypoglycaemia – low glucose levels
  • Hyperglycaemia – high glucose levels
  • Being active
  • Camp planning
  • Planning for change

IMPORTANT

All participants must have completed the Diabetes in Schools online level 1 training prior to the level 2 face-to-face training. Please follow this link to complete the training: https://learning.diabetesinschools.com.au/account/register

Participant numbers are strictly limited to a maximum of 3 staff members per school. If you would like to invite additional staff members please contact nsw-act@diabetesinschools.com.au.

A light morning tea and lunch will be provided.
