Egg Tempera Workshop with Ruth Williams

This workshop is designed to show the how egg tempera’s possibilities for colour and luminescence can transform ordinary moments and objects into extraordinary paintings. Join artist Ruth Williams for a one-day workshop to learn more about the fascinating historical medium of egg tempera.

In this workshop Ruth will demonstrate how egg tempera’s translucent nature allows for rich and varied colour, fine detail or loose mark making. Using materials provided, students will learn how to mix egg yolk with raw pigments, and how to build up the jewel-like surface using glazing and scumbling.

Suitable for all levels of experience. All materials provided.

In conjunction with the exhibition Artists at Work: Installers of the Tweed Regional Gallery on display at Tweed Regional Gallery.
