The artistic flair and talent of the Tweed and surrounds will be will on display and waiting to be discovered through the Murwillumbah Arts Trail (MAT) on the weekend of 28 – 29 May 2022. Weaving in and around Murwillumbah, the creative heart of the Tweed, and into the surrounding villages, the Murwillumbah Arts Trail showcases artists from across the region, offering the community a chance to see them at work, participate in art activities and purchase unique works. Enjoy a drive through some of the most picturesque countrysides from coast to hinterland villages, discovering back roads and hidden treasures in the hills like the Murwillumbah Potters in Fernvale and the Community Printmakers in Stokers Siding. This year the village of Tumbulgum will be joining the trail with an outdoor sculpture exhibition at the beautiful Husk Distillery – celebrating contemporary works by sculpture artists from the region and a collection of artists exhibiting at The Belle Riverhouse. MAT culminates on Saturday night with a colourful soiree at the M|Arts Precinct Art After Dark, where artists open their doors to their studios to welcome visitors and sell their wares. Enjoy live music and street food to celebrate as creative communities of the Tweed come together. The Murwillumbah Arts Trail was the winner of the 2021 Tweed Australia Day Community Event of the Year award.
