The FUNdamentals of Social Tango: walk, embrace, posture, connection, social codes, ochos, giros, cross + play in 4 weekly classes.

A 4-week SERIES of 1.5hr classes in the FUNdamentals of Social Tango …

This 4 week series covers the FUNdamentals of Social Tango (Tango FUN I&II):

walk, embrace, posture, connection, social codes, direction changes, giros, cross and ochos, plus (inter)play.

Participants will be able to dance Tango socially and attend social practicas after attending the first class.

CONNECTION and SELF-EXPRESSION are two things necessary to the human condition, and here Tango can be a vehicle for both. With a social code to open up safe ways to interplay in the ‘you & me’ space, in dance.

Tango has migrant & indigenous origins in the Rívo de la Plata region (Argentina, Uruguay) today modern Social Tango is a global phenomenon – the ultimate way to relate authentically through an embodied language … connecting, dancing and sharing without words. It is danced by young AND old.

Primarily improvised, it allows for a great deal of personal self-expression. Yet, for a tango to be successful in connection, intimacy, and pleasure, it requires the understanding of a shared, physical language: the FUNdamentals of Tango.

And the experience of it in play (practica).

It is based upon walking, so as we say: if you can walk, you can Tango.

Once the FUNdamentals are understood, the dance can be creatively deepened in its practice. It can be shared with family, friends, lovers, sisters, brothers AND even strangers.

It can be as simple or complex as you can make it.

Based upon walking, it is available to all levels of movement practitioner.

Join us in this 4-week class series and connect in with our growing Northern Rivers Tango family.
