The Saltwater Story Film Screening and Panel Discussion
Details
70km, 3 days, 2 canoes, one unforgettable adventure. Join us for a special panel discussion and screening of The Saltwater Story.
The Tweed Regional Gallery is delighted to host a panel discussion followed by a screening of The Saltwater Story at the Regent Cinema Murwillumbah, in conjunction with the exhibition In the Grey: The Saltwater Story.
Join author Benjamin Allmon, photographer David Kelly, director Jeff Licence and special guests as they discuss the voyage of discovery with Bundjalung canoemaker Kyle Slabb and the local Indigenous communities, as they set out in traditional canoes from the heart of the Gold Coast to North Stradbroke Island, a journey not made for over 100 years.
What started as one man’s attempt to educate himself became something far bigger — The Saltwater Story — a fully-illustrated book, with 177 photos by renowned photographer David Kelly and a feature-length documentary by award-winning director Jeff Licence.
EVENT VENUE
The Regent Cinema, 5 Brisbane St, Murwillumbah.
