Women of the Tweed – opens Sat 6th May (drinks 2pm to 4pm)
‘Women of the Tweed’ is an important exhibition highlighting the diverse range of female artists in the Tweed region.
Whilst females have been under-represented in the art world, lagging behind their male counterparts, Mist Gallery has always supported the female creatives and has brought together an outstanding group of women artists with a diverse and rich background of art making.
‘Women of the Tweed’ shines a light on female artists who live and work in the Tweed Region. Artists from a range of backgrounds, artistic practice and career levels. It highlights the talent, the dedication and the importance of these artists and their art in shaping the creative and cultural landscape of the region.
Whilst some artists have a very strong environmental focus, with messages of conservation and sustainability, some explore their familial connections within time and place. There is a collective energy in the region.
