Details

The town of Cawongla bears an unusual name that combines Campbell, the name of the area’s first white settler, and Wonga, an Aboriginal word for hill. The region is popular with day-trippers from Brisbane who enjoy scenic landscape views, old farm buildings and native wildlife.

New settlers to the area who enjoy its alternative lifestyle have boosted the farming community. Cawongla General Store and Gallery Restaurant are a great stop for a meal.
