Blue Jean Sisters Craftivism Workshop at the Museum

Join artist Belinda Smith for a morning of craftivism creativity & shared stories inspired by our Social Fabric fashion & textiles exhibit.

Belinda will bring dolls for you to select from that were handmade by members of the community with up-cycled denim, as part of her Blue Jean Sisters project.

You will then transform your doll’s persona and adorn it with your favourite fashion, style and accessories with a variety of textiles, gems, fabric textas, feathers, beads and more.

You can take your doll home or give it to charity!

Designers and crafters of all levels are welcome. This is an intergenerational workshop for children over 5 years, and their caregivers. We encourage you to bring along a friend or family member and create together.

School Holiday fun.
Suitable for ages 5 y/o+
Children under 12 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

About the Social Fabric exhibition

Social Fabric displays some of the Museum’s never before seen clothing collection. Each garment tells a surprising and unexpected story. Drag queen gowns, mermaid costumes, military uniforms and lacy corsets all chronicle the social history of fashion and dressmaking in the Tweed.
