Marking the southern end of Gold Coast’s famous surfing beaches, Coolangatta has always been a favourite destination, to visit and to stay. Bounded by the state border, the sea and both Kirra and Point Danger headlands, these topographical attributes helped shaped the community that we see today

Join a walking tour to discover Coolangatta through the eyes of a heritage expert, an artist and an urban designer. Hear about its early settlement, its role as a border town, and railway terminus, as well as the early development of a still thriving beach culture. Discover how Coolangatta’s unique character is being celebrated through urban art and the recent delivery of place making initiative.

Details

  • Meeting Point: Kirra Hill Community and Cultural Centre. Look out for the Gold Coast Open House flag.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and water.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • The tour will utilise public footpaths and streets. There will be a short descent at the beginning of the tour with the rest of the tour on mostly flat terrain
