About the Exhibition

In Still life: more than just objects René Bolten explores intimate connections to familiar objects. Via these new works he re-visits objects as memory holders and expands their storytelling potential through unexpected combinations and arrangements to convey deeply personal visual conversations. Bolten’s poetic approach to still life painting reminds us of the power of tangible objects to embody narrative and feeling.

The subjects are objects that Bolten has painted many times over, in different configurations, throughout his life. Loaded with memory and translated into paintings he shares with us their story, humour and deeply held reminiscences.
