Easter will look a little different this year, without the usual holidaymakers enjoying The Tweed, households will be spending quality time with their immediate family and creating memories.

Rest assured, Easter isn’t cancelled and if you’re on the hunt for hot cross buns, we’ve got a roundup of some of the region’s finest.

Cubby Bakehouse, Chinderah

Good news, Cubby are famously turning out their Hot Cross Semi Sourdough Buns to hungry fans. Bad news, they sell out quick so be sure to pre-order online or you’ll miss out! Their bakers are working to max production capacity, so it’s first in best dressed. Cubby are open as normal, 5.30am until 2pm everyday and you can pick up via their contactless drive thru service.

Baked at Ancora, Tweed Heads

The team will be churning out freshly baked hot cross buns this Easter weekend with a choice of pick up locations at either Osteria in Kingscliff or Baked at Ancora in Tweed Heads. Order online, future you will thank you!

The Bread Social, Tweed Heads

Those baking magicians at The Bread Social will be turning out hot cross buns this Easter weekend using organic flour, soaked organic currants, sultanas, secret spice mix and cardamom and star anise glaze. Fuel Bakehouse, Cabarita Beach

Fuel Bakehouse has built a loyal following for its next level pies and sausage rolls and now you can add hot cross buns to your order with traditional fruit plus the chocolate spiked variety for those who like the sweet life. Available in store or pre-order, pick up only. Open Good Friday & Easter Monday 6am-1pm and Saturday/Sunday 6am-2pm.

The Kingscliff Bakery Company, Kingscliff

Kingscliff Bakery will be baking up a storm of delicious classic hot cross buns packed with fruit and spice. Baked fresh daily using a traditional recipe they’ll be available from the Kingscliff Village Shopping Centre bakery all Easter long weekend from 6am-2pm. The team are also delivering baked goods to their loyal local customers in Kingscliff, Casuarina and Chinderah. Free delivery for orders over $25 or $5 flat fee, so sit back, make a cup of tea and wait for your Easter delivery!

Baker + Farmer, Pottsville

Popular Pottsville bakehouse Baker + Farmer will be baking hot cross bun goodness this Easter weekend. Closed Good Friday, you’ll be able to pick up these beauties for the rest of the weekend until sold out.

For those in the hinterland seeking a hot cross bun fix, stop by Wollumbin Street Bakery this Easter for some traditional (and delicious) bakehouse treats.

French Patisserie, Kingscliff

Beachside bakery French Patisserie in Salt Village will get its bake on with sweet Easter buns packed with sultanas and their own secret blend of spices and glazed with a cross. Available every day throughout the Easter holiday period from 6.30am – 2pm.
