Sally Scott, General Manager of The Tweed Tourism Company, said that the sweep of outstanding wins on the night were a celebration of the hard work, innovation and tenacity of the region’s tourism businesses.
“We are incredibly proud of all the Tweed tourism businesses that were recognised at this year’s NSW Tourism Awards and we especially congratulate Peter Burr and his team at Potager, winning for the third year in a row and entering the coveted NSW Tourism Awards Hall of Fame.
“Along with Potager and the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, we are thrilled to have been recognised with a Gold Award for the second year running in the Tourism Marketing & Campaigns category.”
“Our Tweed winners and finalists should be so proud of achieving excellence not only for their own businesses but for also representing the whole region at a state level and helping to lift the profile and reputation of our collective tourism industry.”
Celebrating Potager winning Gold for the third year in a row, owner Peter Burr said the win was an amazing result, recognising the hard work of the Potager team who consistently deliver a great guest experience year after year.
“Now in our 9th year, to again be recognised at this level and to be inducted into the NSW Tourism Hall of Fame is an incredible achievement. It makes me so proud that Potager has become an integral part of the Tweed community, which is exactly what my late partner Gareth and I had hoped for when we started back in 2016” said Burr.
“Bring on Adelaide in March where we get to represent NSW alongside of our mates at The Tweed Tourism Company and TSC’s Northern Rivers Rail Trail at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.”
Manager Destination, Communication and Customer Experience at Tweed Shire Council, Tiffany Stodart said the Northern Rivers Rail Trail was immensely proud to win Gold in its first year of entering the awards.
“We are honoured to win and be in the company of such amazing tourism operators across NSW,” Ms Stodart said.
“The Northern Rivers Rail Trail is such an amazing asset contributing to our region’s social and economic longevity for the long term.
“This award is welcome momentum to support the ongoing hard work and progress to complete and connect the Northern Rivers Rail Trail and we look forward to celebrating the Lismore section opening in 2 weeks,” she said.
Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry said the accolades shone a spotlight on the continued quality of tourism operators in the Tweed, supported by the outstanding consumer campaigns and events delivered by The Tweed Tourism Company as Council’s tourism partner.
“I congratulate all the winners for the commitment required to be recognised among the top tourism businesses in NSW.
“Tourism in the Tweed is thriving and these awards will add to that momentum,” Cr Cherry said.
The NSW Tourism Awards are the tourism industry’s peak awards, recognising and promoting excellence in tourism across 27 business categories, including individual excellence categories and the Judges’ Tourism Star Awards, honouring outstanding resilience and innovation.
Managed by the NSW Tourism Association and supported by Destination NSW, the awards are an annual celebration for all tourism businesses across the state to gather together and recognise outstanding achievements in customer service, innovation and resilience.
As a national program, Gold Medal Award winners of select categories at the state level automatically receive entry to compete at the Australian Tourism Awards.
The 2025 Australian Tourism Awards Gala will be held on Friday 21 March at the Adelaide Convention Centre with Potager, Tweed Shire Council for the Northern Rivers Rail Trail and The Tweed Tourism Company all travelling to South Australia to represent The Tweed on the national stage.
