Puss in Thongs
Details
An age-old tale gets the Aussie touch when Murwillumbah Theatre Company presents the hilarious “Puss in Thong” at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre from October 21.
Based on the famous story by Charles Perrault, “Puss in Boots”, this Australian adaption by Judith Prior is a delightful re-working of the story, with lots of laughs, fun and music with an Aussie flavour.
In this adaptation the brothers Dick and Harry Miller, are forced out of their home by their greedy brother Tom. Dick sets off to make his fortune and Harry is left to look after the cat, Puss. Before they head off, Puss orders Harry to buy her some boots and a grand hat – but they only have $5 and compromise by buying thongs instead!
This is a pantomime for the whole family that follows the adventures of Puss and Harry as they set out to find wealth and romance. Along the way they encounter a bunyip, witch and dancing camel, which encourages the audience to participate in the adventure.
BATS Theatre of Buderim described “Puss in Thongs” as “a hysterically funny pantomime for all ages… with lots of action and opportunity for the audience to join in”.
“Puss In Thongs” will be staged at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre on Friday Nov 3 at 6 pm, Saturdays October, 21, 28 and Nov 4 at 6pm and Sundays October 22, 29 and Nov 5 at 2pm.
