This 2-day workshop provides the fundamental imperatives of counterterrorism & crisis response for business, government & NGOs.

This 2-day workshop provides the fundamental imperatives of counterterrorism & crisis response for business, government and non-government organisations. It will be delivered by counter terrorism specialists from policing, military and academic backgrounds with specialised knowledge and experience in counterterrorism response.

It aims to provide enhanced understanding to the audience of the threat of terrorism & public order disruptions; and will provide key approaches to implement enhanced response and recovery strategies. Learners will also be part of a real-time simulated exercise to boost response capabilities and build upon learnings.

Learning outcomes include:

• Understand what terrorism is & the current terrorism threat landscape:

o Terrorism environment & the local and global threat landscape;

o Defining terrorism and acts of violence;

o Cyberterrorism & data protection;

o Terrorism financing & money laundering.

• Understand the Australian Government approach to terrorism incidents.

• Understand how terrorism may affect businesses:

o disruption;

o loss;

o closure;

o threat to people/assets/infrastructure.

• Understand how businesses & organisations can support emergency services & the public in a response to terrorism & violent public order events.

• Develop & implement a counter-terrorism response plan:

o How-to guide on response priorities;

o Develop and implement communication strategies;

o Prioritise and maintain cyber capabilities & AML/CTF practices;

• Identify & implement appropriate recovery strategies to a terrorism incident.

Panel Discussion

At the end of DAY 1, a panel session will take place with experts in the fields of counterterrorism, national security and crisis response. Guests will gain further specialised knowledge in this discussion.

Social Event

A social and networking opportunity will take place after the conclusion of DAY 1. Guests will enjoy a selection of beverages and food.
