Join artist Rachel Milne for an opportunity to paint Margaret Olley’s home studio re-creation.

Join award-winning artist Rachel Milne for a two-day acrylic painting workshop that focuses on interiors. Participants will have the rare opportunity to work from one of the viewing points into Margaret Olley’s home studio re-creation. Participants will be guided through observation and composition techniques, and will complete a series of small drawings and a medium sized canvas.

Suitable for artists with some experience and is for any artist who has stood peering into Margaret Olley’s home-studio recreation and wished they could paint what they see!

Some materials are provided, but artists are encouraged to bring their own brushes and acrylic paints. Places are limited, and bookings are essential.

This workshop is part of the MOAC Masterclass series that celebrates the 100th birthday anniversary of Margaret Olley, Australia’s most celebrated painter of still life and interiors.

Gallery Cafe Apex Dining is open for lunch and orders can be taken before the workshop begins.

About the Artist

Rachel Milne is a nationally recognised award-winning artist who produces intimate paintings and portraits set in her home and studio, as well as plein air landscapes of iconic places in Newcastle laden with social history. Milne was awarded winner of the Singleton Portraiture Prize in 2013, has been a finalist in the KILGOUR PRIZE at Newcastle Art Gallery in 2014, 2016 and 2018, as well as the prestigious Wynne Prize in 2017 and 2018 at the Art Gallery of NSW.

Rachel Milne is represented by King Street Gallery on William, Sydney and Sophie Gannon Gallery, Melbourne.

In conjunction with the exhibition Margaret Olley: Far from a Still Life on display at Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre 22 March – 8 October 2023.
