Friday Night quickly sold out so Thursday Night is now on offer too.

Hailing from the shores of Cronulla, Adam Newling is a sweet-heart-on-sleeve folk-laureate- a salt of the earth musician and storyteller sure to melt even the hardest of hearts. Newling is a soulful observer- he is simply paying attention. In turn, his poetic lyrics dig their heels deep into the dirt of life- how it looks, feels, tastes and sounds. He will have you glued to your seat in reverence- unsure whether to laugh or break down in tears. Newling warbles with implausible depth and quality- like he carries a vintage condenser microphone embedded in his vocal chords- he sings with a vernacular, almost factual quality, as if he were describing in real time the scene he witnesses. Newling conveys exhaustive emotion through dynamic and in humble absorption with his narrative. Catch him in this rare solo-appearance before his path leads off into the big bad great unknown.

Hannah Darling is a singer and songwriter whose music is not easily classified- at once innovative and obliquely reminiscent of some familiar lullaby of old. With her huge haunting voice and heart-breaking honesty- Darling is sure to hold you captive as she delves deep beyond the surface of her great loves, fears and losses. Onstage, she sways with eyes closed, tiptoed, evocative expression on her face- like a figure in a religious painting- she dances over time signature and through dimensions, somehow still present to feel as if she holds you. Why she is so captivating is difficult to pinpoint- her simple guitar lays a bed for intricately woven poetry but it is the journey of her heart that really captures you. A hometown show not to be missed.

Both the music of Newling & Darling is deceptively complex- despite its simple components: one voice, one guitar, two hands- these two storytellers will take you on a journey far and beyond the four walls of the sweet Citadel. …………………………….…………………………………..

The Citadel is located in the beautiful hinterland of The Tweed, in Murwillumbah. We are an intimate licenced venue.

Look forward to seeing you!
