Tropical Fruit World and Sourdough Business Women invite you to join us in celebration of International Women’s Day 2023 where we discuss ‘Cracking the Code’ – highlighting the role that STEM can play in combatting discrimination and accelerating the progress towards a gender equal future.

Judy Brinsmead AM – Principal of Tropical Fruit World, welcomes you to this impactful and informative International Women’s Day 2023 celebration where we will together, explore the theme cracking the code: ‘Innovation for a gender equal future’.

Hear from guest speaker, multiple Walkley Award winning author, journalist and broadcaster Tracey Spicer. Tracey was chosen as one of the Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence, winning the Social Enterprise and Not-For-Profit category.

Tracey will delve into her views on AI bias, including ways that sexist and racist stereotypes are being embedded into emerging technologies, thus perpetuating them.

Our MC Amy Colli, is the Sourdough Business Women Regional Liaison. Amy is responsible for supporting business women across the Northern Rivers region via the facilitation of opportunities to connect, learn, collaborate, and be inspired by local women in the region.

We have curated an exceptional panel of influential, empowering and inspiring women representing the STEM industry. These women are excelling in traditional male oriented fields and paving the way for future female leaders.

Join us as we learn from, be inspired by and celebrate these incredible women in business.

Panel includes:

Crystal McGregor – Entrepreneur and Program Lead at Tech Ready Women. Crystal has secured over $4M in grants and is an inventor in Australian technologies.

Michelle Erwin – Senior Civil Engineer committed to advancing engineering as a profession, particularly for young women. Michelle is eager to understand why only 16% of Australian engineering graduates are female. Once we know why, we can focus our efforts to affect real change.

Amanda Philp – Marine Scientist and Assistant GM at Australian Seabird & Turtle Rescue. Amanda was the 2021 Tweed Shire Citizen of the Year.
