The Music of John Denver

Just imagine the “Rocky Mountains” and a magical journey, with visions of those glorious snow-capped mountains stretching across Canada. If you are between the ages of fifty and eighty you will know them simply as, the “Rockies” and remember them as the home of John Denver, the legendary songwriter and performer whose music and lyrics touched millions of people over more than 3 decades.

John Denver sang of the beauty and mystique of the “Rockies” in his classic song “Rocky Mountain High”. When you say these three words you normally find yourself singing or humming this song … this is so often the true test of a musical gem, and it happens with so many of John Denver’s songs.

If you were fortunate enough to witness the magic of a John Denver concert during the 70’s or 80’s or simply enjoyed listening to one of his records, then in May this year you will have a wonderful opportunity to once again enjoy the magic and intimacy that is John Denver. A unique concert experience starring Col Perkins is returning to the Twin Towns Entertainment showroom for a morning show on Tuesday 16^th May 2023.

Col Perkins, has been performing the songs of John Denver to audiences throughout Australia for over 15 years and the resemblance is truly uncanny, both in voice and looks.

This compelling concert will feature over 20 classic hits and everlasting memories from John Denver’s incredible musical career that spans over 30 years. Col takes you on a wonderful musical journey, beginning with John’s first international hit, “Leaving on a Jet Plane”, to those classic love songs from the 1970’s movie “Sunshine”. Then we visit the ever popular “Some Days are Diamonds”, “Back Home Again” and those haunting classics, “Perhaps Love”, “Poems, Prayers & Promises” and “Rocky Mountain High” and of course the all time favourites “Annie’s Song” and “Take Me Home Country Roads”. Plus “Grandma’s Feather Bed” and “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” will have everyone clapping & singing along with that “home grown” country enthusiasm.

The show will also feature a special selection of songs from John Denver’s last studio album “All Aboard” which was released during 1997 the final year of John’s life.
