Details

This is a series of 2 hour Fusion Bellydance classes with each session focusing specifically on a particular aspect of Fusion Bellydance (see description of each workshop focus below).

These are mixed level classes however they are open and accessible to all levels. Beginners welcome!

Experienced dancers can expect to learn some new patterns and practice some they may already know, whilst also honing their technique, skill & precision as there will be a strong focus technique. Beginner bellydancers will have a great opportunity to learn through the staggered layout of class, technical breakdowns & drill repetition.

Each class stands alone and anyone can jump in on any singular session without doing the others.

SESSION INFO/DATES

SPIRAL PORTALS
Thurs September 21st 6:45-8:45pm
This session will focus on many different ways to create and feel the hypnotising, mesmerising shape of spirals moving through the entire body, in various movement patterns.

SLICK LOCKS & LICKS
Thurs October 19th 6:45-8:45pm

Part of what makes Fusion Bellydance really stand out are those sharp, slick, pops locks & licks (patterns) contrasted between the snake-like slinky movements. This session we’ll focus on finding that sharp and slick way of delivering these types of movements through some fun patterns.

SEXY SLINKY SENSUAL
Thurs November 16th 6:45-8:45pm
In this session we’ll sink deep into our sacral to connect to our sensual side. We’ll be slowing right down to find the power that lies in meeting our sexy/sensual side with full presence. We’ll be learning to articulate slinky sensual sexy movements with exquisite slowness, and a type of confidence that only comes from complete loving presence with self rather than ego.

SHIMMY SHAKEDOWN & END OF YEAR CELEBRATION
Fri December 15th 5:30-7:30

Lets bring down the house with a full body shimmy shakedown to celebrate the end of this year! We will shimmy to our hearts content and shake tension out of our hips with some fun upbeat patterns to finish the year off with a bang! Class finishes at 7:30 then all are invited to stay for a meal, connect, dance, gifts & games!

SUMMER SWEAT
Thurs January 4th 6:45-8:45pm
Lets sweat out all those holiday season toxins and stress with a fun & energetic class to get your heart pumping. I’ll ease us in for those who haven’t done much movement in weeks but the aim of this session is to sweat, whilst having fun dancing to some high energy beats & drills!

PLEASE NOTE: Classes are in NSW Daylight Savings time from October.

ABOUT MALIKA & FUSION BELLYDANCE

This contemporary expression of Bellydance is powerful, sensual and mesmerising. With slow snake-like movements and hypnotising hip rhythms, gateways to healing are opened through sacral activation and embodied presence.

Bellydance invites one in to the delicious realms of femininity & sensuality, enabling deeper attunement to the inner landscape and the language of the body. These movements can be a tool to one’s embodiment journey as the polarity between flow and discipline, feminine and masculine, play out in each dancer.

Having journeyed deep into the underworld of her own shadows, Malika’s movement experience expands beyond linear knowledge and the 10+ years she’s been bellydancing.

After decades living in a paralytic fear of being seen, overwhelming shame and total disconnection from the heart and body, Malika found her way onto a deep healing path which immediately became intricately entwined with her Bellydance journey.

Malika’s experience in trauma and mental health have inspired her gentle & compassionate facilitating style; and her devotion to personal evolution via presence & embodiment is woven throughout her Bellydance offerings. Malika utilizes her deep connection to music, rhythm & the energetics of sound to create a mindfully curated musical journey of neo-beats that is in synch with each of her unique expressions of the dance.
