The 2022 National NAIDOC Week theme – Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! – recognises the history of getting up, standing up, and showing up  – from the Frontier Wars to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities fighting for change today, and the courage not to lose momentum for change.

Whether it’s seeking environment, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism – everyone must do it together. It’s also time to celebrate those who have driven and led change in communities over generations—the heroes and champions of change, of equal rights and human rights.

The relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians needs to be based on justice, equity, and the proper recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights.

Get up! Stand Up! Show Up! With us to amplify our voices and narrow the gap between aspiration and reality, good intent and outcome at these Tweed Heads NAIDOC Week Events.

Tweed Heads NAIDOC Committee have worked hard with our partners to ensure there are events throughout the week to engage all aspects of the community.

We wish to acknowledge the Ngandowal and Minyungbal speaking people of the Bundjalung Country, in particular the Goodjinburra, Tul-gi-gin and Moorung – Moobah clans, as being the traditional owners and custodians of the land and waters within the Tweed Shire boundaries. We also acknowledge and respect the Tweed Aboriginal community’s right to speak for its Country and to care for its traditional Country in accordance with its lores, customs and traditions.
