UFC 298 Volkanovski V Topuria

Fighting out of Windang NSW, Volkanovski (26-3 MMA, 13-2 UFC) is planning to kick off a successful new year by securing his sixth UFC featherweight title defence.

Volkanovski has impressive track record with victories over Yair Rodriguez, Max Holloway and Brian Ortega. The 35-year-old now plans to hand 26-year-old Topuria his first career loss.

Topuria (14-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC), fighting out of Alicante, Spain, has plans of his own. He aims to keep his undefeated record intact by dethroning Volkanovski with a career-defining performance.

The much younger Topuria is reported to be sticking with his prediction of an early finish.

“You’re old, it’s time to retire. It is time to move on and make way for the new era of Topuria,” he recently claimed in an interview.

Volkanovski told media the unbeaten Topuria sounds confident.

“He’s a cocky young dude. I’ve seen a lot in my game. I still feel like I’m in my prime.

“I get to show this young kid that there’s levels and I am the king of this division, and he ain’t taking nothing from me.

“I’m coming for that zero.”
