For those who love a bit of extra info…

What Yin Yoga is:

⭐️ The ultimate way to unwind, reduce stress, nourish your nervous system and calm the mind.

⭐️ Encourages relaxation and mindfulness, which can help to reduce stress and anxiety. By slowing down and focusing on the breath, you can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps to calm the body and mind.

⭐️Targets the connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia. By holding poses for an extended period, the connective tissues are gently stretched and strengthened, which can improve flexibility and mobility over time.

⭐️The slow, gentle stretches of yin yoga can be beneficial for joint health. By applying a moderate amount of stress to the joints, you can stimulate the production of synovial fluid, which lubricates the joints and helps to reduce stiffness and pain. Yin yoga can also help to increase range of motion in the joints.

⭐️ A great counterbalance to the fast pace of busy life. Allowing the body to stretch and release in the areas that need it, especially if you’re tight from a lot of exercise, an injury or spend a lot of time sitting for work.

⭐️ Yin is so nourishing and relaxing that you might need to call a friend after to get carried home asleep 😉

What Yin Yoga is not:

➡️ It’s not like any other form of yoga. There’s no downward dog poses or other load bearing shapes.

➡️ Yin is not designed to raise your heart rate or provide a cardiovascular workout.

➡️ You don’t need to be “good at yoga” to come to a yin class. All abilities are welcome with options to modify to suit your body.

➡️ Yin is not an experience that will have you competing with the person next to you. You’re invited to come as you are and to embrace yourself, your body and whatever it needs at that time.
