Chatting with female entrepreneurs that distil change!

When it comes to change, women are often the first to put their hands up. Being dynamic and daring in the distilling industry is certainly paying off for Harriet Messenger. Her family business Husk Distillery has undoubtedly made an impact – locally, nationally, and internationally. Of course, it helps having brilliant products. The company first made an impact when it launched the fabulous colour-changing Ink Gin but has really found its feet in developing Australia’s first Agricole rum.

What we know from Harriet’s work, however, is that a brilliant product is one thing, but telling the world about it, inviting them to learn your story and communicating it all via website, EDMs, socials and on the ground to your staff, is a whole different cocktail.

Accompanying Harriet on stage is another emerging leader in the Tweed spirits industry, Chanel Melani. Chanel is the co-founder of Birds of Isle, a start-up craft rum distillery set to launch in 2023.

Join us for an evening of conversation (and rum!) as we hear from these determined females on how they best enlist their marketing backgrounds to communicate new messaging that changes the way we view a traditionally masculine drink.

Your ticket price includes an Agricole rum-based cocktail, grazing boards and the opportunity to meet and connect with other like-minded women in your region. This event is sponsored by Commonwealth Australia Bank.

About Harriett:

Harriet is the general manager of Marketing & Hospitality at Husk Farm Distillery. With a passion for brand building, she is responsible for building the Ink Gin and Husk Distillers brands from the ground up. In the early days of the business when everyone wore too many hats, her role as Sales Manager saw her expand the distribution of Ink Gin nationally and into 12 export markets to become the most popular ultra-premium Australian gin by 2019. Harriet has a love for creative marketing, an eye for design and a passion for creating memorable brand experiences.

About Chanel:

Chanel is co-founder of female owned and led startup craft rum distillery Birds of Isle, whose goal is to help Australia rethink its relationship with rum.

She is also recipient of the Future Women NSW Rural Scholarship 2022. A 12-month program for current & emerging female leaders in rural, regional and remote NSW.

Before taking the courageous leap into starting her own business with her co-founder, Chanel spent 13 years in marketing working for Qantas Airways, Flight Centre Travel Group, Vodafone, Commonwealth Bank and AGL. She also spent 7 years in hospitality as a waitress while studying at university and working in junior marketing roles, and truly loved every minute of it.
