From a humble beginning of housing aged horses, the project grew over the years as more animals were gifted from all over the region, as people came to know of the sanctuary as a place of refuge and care for retired, unwell or unwanted animals.

The Sanctuary opens twice a year, in Spring and Autumn to receive tourists through an organized garden tour. Start in Flutterbies Cottage cafe with a Devonshire tea, walk through the beautiful gardens of the Garden of Light and finish the tour meeting furry friends.
